FILM REVIEW: Eighth Grade (2018)

For the third year running, the New Year brings us another terrific film centred on a teenage girl. Last year it was Saoirse Ronan in Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, in 2017 it was Hailee Steinfeld in Kelly Fremon Craig’s The Edge of Seventeen. In 2019 it’s Bo Burham’s Eighth Grade. Hold onto your hats, chaps. The best show in town has returned. And this time it’s bigger and better than ever. Starting off at Red Bennies in 2010, moving onto Fed Square, and then the Playhouse Theatre, this year Twisted Broadway raised the roof at The Arts Centre’s State Theatre. For the uninitiated, Twisted Broadway brings together performers from the musical theatre industry in a one night only concert event to raise money for Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Melbourne Theatre 2013 in Review

I haven’t seen a musical in over 2 months (*gasp*!) and I’m waiting for Grease tickets to not be a total rip, so for now I will review the year that was 2013 in the theatre world. Again there’s a fair few to get through so apologies for the length. This list mostly consists of professional musicals along with a couple of Broadway-star concerts, a charity event, and a play.
