Cate Blanchett nails it yet again as journalist and CBS news producer, Mary Mapes in Truth. Based on the Killian documents controversy, Truth details the downfall of Mapes and 60 Minutes news anchor, Dan Rather (Robert Redford), following their airing of a story prior to the 2004 election which called into question George W. Let’s smoke some weed and kick some arse! That’s not quite so much the premise of American Ultra, but more likely something the filmmakers said as they conceived it. Having already demonstrated his love of excess in his debut feature Project X, director Nima Nourizadeh teams up with screenwriter Max Landis to deliver yet another over the top comedy. FILM REVIEW: Interstellar

Interstellar (Christopher Nolan, 2014)

What a dude
What a dude

I was pretty psyched for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, considering the brilliant films he’s made in the past: Memento, The Prestige, Inception, and The Dark Knight trilogy. All those movies that make you go “WOOOOOOOAH what a twist!” But while there was much to admire in Interstellar, you pretty much needed to be an astrophysicist or at least scientifically-minded to understand what the hell was going on.
